from July 8, 2019 to February 5, 2020, the project department successfully broke through the excavation construction task of the 182 m bedrock convex section of the east line tunnel after 156 days. At present, the east line shield tunnel has been excavated for 2907 meters in total, and the remaining 140 meters are expected to be completed in early May; The shield tunnel of the western line is attacking the bedrock bulge of the third section of the sea, with a total excavation of 2295m and the remaining 750m. It is planned to be completed in late July. The two shield machines are planned to be disassembled and transferred in early November 2020

On september7,2019, the east line of Shantou Bay Tunnel was driven by shield machine more than 2000 meters, and the west line was driven by shield machine more than 1100 meters. At the end of December 2019, the east line of Shantou Bay Tunnel was driven 2290 meters by shield, about 75% of which was completed. 1140 rings of segments were installed. Only one and a half of the 10 samples on the west line were successfully driven 1990 meters by shield, about 65%, and 990 rings of segments were installed. On february13,2020, the shield tunnel of the east line of Shantou Bay Tunnel completed 1201 Ring Road, which is planned to be completed in early May 2020; 1086 ring roads have been completed for shield tunneling of the west line, and it is planned to be completed in the middle of August 2020
